River Sense on Lady Bird Lake
- Learn the 12 ‘River Sensibles’ that will help keep you safe while enjoying the river. Then take our fun River Sense Quiz. You’ll receive special offers from Lady Bird Lake vendors who will provide you with discounts for canoe, kayak, paddle board, rowing rentals and more.
- Our River Sense Program provides on the river classes for at-risk youth from Central Texas. We suit them up with personal flotation devices (life-jackets), provide basic canoe navigation instructions (paddling strokes) and get them on the water in Texas River School canoes.

Campground and River Access
Texas River School’s River Camp is a wonderful campground and Texas Parks and Wildlife Leased-Access area. With five campsites and opportunities for day use, fishing, boating, and picnicking, the River Camp is secluded yet still has a view of the Austin Downtown skyline.

Discover the Source
The Discover the Source program is a canoeing program for area youth, ages 9 to 18, that emphasizes the importance of the “source” of Barton Springs. This one-day trip includes discussion of the Edward’s Aquifer, Barton Springs pool, Barton Creek, Lady Bird Lake, and much, much more.

FIND AND CAPTURE
Our Find & Capture program addresses a creative and unified approach to artistic expression and outdoor recreation. It encourages teamwork, problem-solving, and creative application of photography in a natural setting and includes an orienteering lesson, kayaking tutorial, and photo scavenger hunt along Barton Creek, including underwater photography.

Overnight Canoe Camping Trip
The Overnight Canoe Camping Trip is a program for our more experienced students. This trip takes place on the Colorado River, from the Montopolis Street Bridge to the Texas River School’s Canoe Camp. Highlights include four miles of paddling, setting up camp, outdoor meals, campfire sing-a-longs, and more.

Moonlight Bat Float
Guided by the moonlight, enjoy live music with Austin musicians as you see Austin from a different perspective. This unique and fun water event supports the Texas River School and should be on everyone’s bucket list! (Currently unavailable until spring of 2022)
